Amy K Egelston

I am a seasoned financial professional with expertise in audit, financial analysis, and financial reporting arenas, as well as insurance statutory/regulatory reporting. I am currently a financial controller for an insurance company where I am responsible for statutory/regulatory/income tax reporting for two entities and consolidation of three other entities. I am also responsible for reinsurance accounting and cash flow/investment management and managing the year end audit/preparation of audited STAT financial statements. Prior to this I performed forensic analyses involving very complex financial records, recreated financial records for forensic cases, and assessed generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally accepted audit standards (GAAS) in accounting malpractice cases. I have worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission-Enforcement Division, so I understand Federal Securities Reporting/Regulations/Violations. I have also worked as an SEC Financial Reporting Mgr for SEC Registrants. I have exposure to a variety of industries, particularly the insurance industry with respect to run off situations (Kemper Insurance) and in working claims, or performing industry analyses (SEC) and can flex my skill set and adapt to a variety of situations.

Plante Moran Webinar-Fraud
http://www.plantemoran.com/perspectives/webinars/2...
This was a webcast presentation that I presented with another partner from Plante Moran in Nov. 2013, titled "Fraud: The Unexpected Purchase". Focus of the webinar was on the difference between typical due diligence procedures and additional specific fraud focused procedures that can be performed in an acquisition related engagement. It also discussed frauds that have occurred in M&A engagements.

"Dial F for Fraud"-Plante Moran Universal Advisor
http://www.plantemoran-digital.com/plante-moran-en...
I co-authored this article for Plante Moran with a PM colleague. The article was published in Plante Moran’s Universal Advisor for March 2013, which was sent to all of Plante Moran’s clients. This article discusses why employees don’t report fraud to their employers. A key reason is out of fear of retaliation, but there are other reasons as well.

Appellate Court Decision-Sheth Case
http://www.illinoiscourts.gov/opinions/AppellateCo...
This was the first case that I testified in (Sept. 2011), as an independent financial expert. I won this case in appeals, (April 2013) securing a $1.3 million judgment for my client. The case related to international banking regulations and the shipment of used/retooled machinery and equipment over to Korea, India and China for which my client was never paid. You can go to Sections V (paragraphs 35-37) and VII (paragraph 107-112 for the appellate judge references to my testimony and his comments related to it.
