Ron Kimberling announced the appointment of Laura Beal to the newly created position of Associate Director of University Outreach. Beal’s primary responsibility is to build relationships and partnerships with the business community, educators, potential students and potential employers for Argosy University students. She will also engage the university’s participation in expos and fairs to enhance public awareness and interest. “Laura comes to Argosy with a wealth of professional experience, including an in-depth knowledge of the Chicago area community colleges and transfer policies, as well as considerable experience in assisting corporations and agencies with their management talent development needs,” Dr. Kimberling said. “We are delighted to have her representing Argosy University’s downtown Chicago campus.” Beal comes to Argosy University with over 14 years of experience in higher education. She is a former manager of corporate reporting for Citi and past president of the Resources for the Education of Adults in the Chicago Area (REACh.) She started her career with Fordham University in New York working as their Alumni Relations Manager. She also worked as the Community Relations Manager with DeVry University where she forged relationships with 23 community colleges in the greater Chicago area. This interview was totally unexpected and I was not prepared to make any kind of statement. However, the greater (or greatest) issue at hand is that the current generation in the United States is less educated than the prior generation. This constitutes a national crisis/emergency of a unique and qualitatively different kind than the usually defined terms for "crisis" or "emergency".
